Self-care is vital to your well being. You know how on airplanes they say to put your oxygen mask on first, well this workshop is your oxygen!

---> Get clear on what you want to create in your life in 2018 and beyond
---> Make your vision powerful
---> Manifest your goals, dreams and desires
Join me and other Moms Who Dare for this awesome day all about YOU!

February 6th- March 31st. Artist reception- Friday, February 9th from 6 PM - 9 PM
Black Moth hosts a small exhibition of works that flirts with the Show More...affections and obsessions between couples. Love and companionship, attraction to the physical and practical are innate driving forces in the human experience. "Seen you Around" reflects the encounters we have had firsthand or witnessed through the lenses of literature, friends, or online media. Today our social interactions go beyond the chance encounters on the streets or in the aisles, but can be distant and detached on tiny screens in hand. Sometimes the words don't come to fruition easily, sometimes they aren't necessary, and at other times we are quite bold in the approach to the one who flutters the heart. From a missed opportunity to broken-hearted stalker, from the shy wallflower to the overt siren, pursuits, passions and their fortunes vary. Artists have a knack for stilling the moment of extreme emotion and elicit that again in the viewer's experience. The participating artists in "Seen you Around" meld design with their own personal feelings and ideas of passion creating engaging works. Come see how others have expressed with their fondness for another. We hope it's happily ever after!. ...Show Less

The National Museum of Industrial History is hosting an exhibit of the "Impossibly Real" art of Lehigh Valley artist Peter Maier from January 24th to Show More...March 11th.
Peter Maier has had a very interesting and unique career. A graduate of Pratt Institute, Maier was first involved in Fine Art in his freshman year as assistant to sculptor Robert Mallary for a work commissioned by architect Phillip Johnson for the New York State Pavilion at the 1964 New York World's Fair - as well as being involved in Industrial Design.
Maier went on to enjoy a distinguished career as an Automobile Designer. Being one of the youngest ever to be hired by GM, Maier rose in the ranks to become Senior Designer for Cadillac, Pontiac and Chevrolet Motor Divisions, thereby becoming part of an elite group. Maier left the security of his position at GM in 1980-and although approached by other major automotive firms-embarked on a journey to pursue his passion as a Fine Artist on his own.
Working on hi-tech fabricated aluminum panels and utilizing a state-of-the-art waterborne paint, Maier developed a unique technique and multi-layering process that combines industrial paint technology with traditional brush work. This process, along with the experimental paint, gives the artwork a 3-dimensional effect which cannot be achieved or duplicated with traditional paint mediums. Referring to an ArtNews article by Barbara A. MacAdam, "The paintings appear to be impossibly real.". ...Show Less

The concert is sponsored by Tom and Judy Newman. Featured in the program is Israeli pianist Tomer Gewirtzman, joining the BCSO in a performance of the powerful Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor by Johannes Brahms. The BCSO also performs Maurice Ravel's sensual and transporting Suite No. 2 from the ballet Show More...Daphnis and Chloe, composed on commission from Sergei Diaghilev. Premiering in Paris in 1912, the ballet is based on a Classical Greek tale recounting the love of the shepherd Daphnis and the maiden Chloe. Ravel considered the ballet score to be his most important creation, describing it as "a great choreographic symphony" designed as a "vast musical fresco." The Suite No. 2 opens with the well-known portrayal of daybreak, followed by an exquisite dance for the two lovers as they pantomime the story of Pan and his beloved Syrinx. The suite concludes with a tumultuous bacchanal, celebrating the love that Daphnis and Chloe have found for each other. Ravel's score exhibits great passion throughout, the music infused with extraordinarily lush harmonies and demonstrating the composer's masterful handling of orchestration. Hailed by The Washington Post as an artist of "formidable virtuosity and stylistic sensitivity," Israeli pianist Tomer Gewirtzman has impressed audiences around the world. He has performed recitals in London in Steinway Hall and in Paris in the Salle Cortot of the École Normale. He has appeared as soloist with orchestras throughout Israel-including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and the Israeli Chamber Orchestra-as well as numerous regional orchestras in the United States. Mr. Gewirtzman made his New York recital debut on the Young Concert Artists Series and performed a D.C. recital on the YCA and Washington Performing Arts Series. He also appeared at the Buffalo Chamber Music Society, Harvard Musical Association, and as soloist with the Charlottesville Symphony. He has performed at music festivals throughout the United States and in Europe. At the 2015 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, he was awarded First Prize in addition to five performance prizes. He has been awarded First Prize in many major piano competitions in the United States, Israel, Poland and Greece. Mr. Gewirtzman served in the Israeli Defense Forces from 2008 to 2011, in the "Outstanding Musician" program, where he combined regular military service with extensive university music studies. He earned his Master's degree at the Juilliard School, working with Maestro Sergei Babayan, where he received the prestigious Kovner Fellowship award. He continues his studies at Juilliard in the Artist Diploma program.. ...Show Less

Peter Hurd (1904-1984) and Henriette Wyeth (1907-1997) were important contributors to the arts of both the Philadelphia region and the Southwest. Peter Show More...Hurd, a native of Roswell, attended Haverford College, near Philadelphia and later studied with N.C. Wyeth in Chadds Ford. While there, he met Wyeth's eldest daughter, Henriette, a talented painter whose lyrical large scale canvases had quickly earned her critical recognition following her graduation from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. The two were married in 1929, and-torn by ties to both the east coast and the southwest-relocated permanently to New Mexico in 1937. There, both artists were rebranded as Regionalists, a characterization that marginalized their respective contributions to American art.
Co-organized with the Roswell Museum and Art Center in New Mexico, Magical & Real is the first joint retrospective of Wyeth and Hurd's work since 1967, and the first scholarly exhibition to seriously consider the work of either artist in thirty years. The exhibition re-situates Hurd and Wyeth into the larger dialogue of American art in the 20th century, with the aim of broadening awareness of the entire scope of their work while grappling with the tensions that exist between the eastern and western arts communities. It will also reintroduce audiences familiar only with the name Wyeth to the significant body of work produced by the woman that Andrew Wyeth felt was the most talented of all N.C. THE IMPOSSIBLY REAL ART OF PETER MAIER

Fifteen sculptures by Charles Rudy (1904-1986) were among the first pieces at the Michener to be scanned and exhibited online.
In this innovative exhibition, Rudy sculptures will appear alongside their digital representations, exploring the intersection between 20th century art and 21st century technology. Using Google Cardboard viewers, the Rudy scans can be viewed in virtual reality, and 3D printing demonstrations will illustrate the fascinating process through which intangible objects are made real. Virtually Rudy is the first exhibition to explore new dimensions, both physical and virtual, of Rudy's work, creating a unique, immersive experience-one where the nationally known sculptor's pieces can be seen and enjoyed like never before.. ...Show Less
